Manchester United has staged a firm go-ahead to sign Villareal center back Pau Torres at the end of the season.
According to AS, United has won the race to sign the 24-year-old Spaniard. The Red Devils are ready to part with Villareal’s €65m valuation for the star.
Torres has established himself as the top defender for the Yellow Marines. He has 9 clean sheets and 3 goals to his name in 32 appearances for Villareal this term.
Apparently, early this week, United representatives met with Pau’s agents to sanction a €65m move for the left-footed defender.
Last week, Madrid was viewed as favorites to sign the star. However, the constant contact United kept on his representatives made Madrid pull out of the race.
Florentino Perez fumed at how United slid to snatch them a lucrative opportunity to sign the prized star, stated Team Talk.
Eventually, United is now the ideal fit to beat Liverpool and Real Madrid who were also interested in Pau.
Ole Gunnar wanted either Raphael Varane or Sergio Ramos. Nonetheless, the deals prove to be tricky shifting his focus elsewhere.
The Norwegian has sought to settle down on Pau to focus on looking for a striker and right back as reinforcements to his current squad.
